PROGRAM: Donna introduced Knot Likitkumchorn and Danny Spungeon. She met them at PEER Chain, the Waukegan company that Danny owns and where Knot works. She found out that Knot was a Rotary Youth Exchange student in 2005-2006.

Knot is from the southernmost part of Thailand on the Malay border. His father is a Rotarian. His family hosted two RYE students (one from Michigan, one from Vancouver). In turn, Knot, his sister, and his brother were exchange students: Knot and his sister were sponsored by the Buffalo Grove Rotary Club (different years). His brother participated in another exchange program and lived outside Seattle. Knot’s first host family were the Spungeons. He went to Stevenson High School where his proficiency in tennis earned him a place on the varsity team and a trip to the state finals.

He returned to the U.S. to attend the University of Toledo on a tennis scholarship. He graduated in 2011 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and in 2014 with a MSME. He works at PEER Chain and belongs to the North Chicago Rotary Club.

Knot’s enthusiasm for RYE and for Rotary was evident. We hope it will inspire our New Tech students to apply for RYE!
